Originally hailing from Charlotte, NC, Jermaine Alexander p.k.a. GRIZZ credits much of his early success to his fierce determination in making a name for himself in the music industry. Having booked shows at Blue Menthol, Coke, Levi, Gate (Decatur, GA), The Apache Café (Atlanta, GA), Celebrity Café, The Atrium (Stone Mountain, GA), as well as appearing on Summer Jams, GRIZZ has slowly built an underground following as a DJ and emerging Rapper/Producer.
Capitalizing on his demand as a regional DJ and collaboration with talented producers, 2008 marked the year that GRIZZ formed & established his own record label/production company, Dirty Sox Entertainment. The concept and logo behind the label are the result of his experience in the music business. GRIZZ says, “I want my label and the sound of my music to reflect the struggles I’ve gone through in this business. Wherever your destination is in life, it’s going to be a long road to get there. If your socks aren’t dirty, you haven’t been hitting the pavement and working the streets hard enough to get people to listen to your music!”
“All Around” is the name of the lead single off his album, The Way I Iz. Listing KRS-1, Busta Rhymes, Method Man, and OutKast as influences, GRIZZ maintains that his solo album will bring a new sound to Hip-Hop/Rap! “My music is gritty, and it reflects my personal struggles, but it also incorporates more popular elements with respect to the instrumentation. The best way to describe it is that I create more ‘musical beats’ that appeal to every type of hip-hop fan.” GRIZZ has recently signed a digital distribution deal and the album will be released once marketing and promotion efforts have
reached the proper level to release the album with as much anticipation from fans as possible!
GRIZZ has traveled to Germany to perform on a paid European Tour with his former group, Tha Walk-Onz. His talent and experience in the music industry thus far makes him a top candidate for a partnership with a major record company or major investor looking for fully developed and business minded artists.
