Remy Ma Charged with Four Misdemeanors in Assault Case

Prosecutors filed charges against Remy Ma this past Friday (May 24), hitting her with four misdemeanors for allegedly assaulting Love & Hip Hop: New York co-star Brittney Taylor at a concert in April.
According to TMZ, Remy is facing two counts of assault in the third degree. Additional charges include one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree and one count of harassment in the second degree.

Dawn Florio, the veteran rapper’s attorney, also told TMZ that prosecutors updated the time in which they claim the altercation occurred. Prosecutors now say the attack happened at Manhattan’s Irving Plaza around 10:30 p.m. on April 26.
Remy was previously accused of punching Taylor around 9:30 p.m. that day. But, the Terror Squad member said she had visual proof of being nowhere near the scene at the time. With the update, her alibi has been affected.
Prosecutors have offered Remy a plea deal, which would require her participation in an anger management program. In the proposal, she would reportedly plead guilty to one count of assault in the third degree in exchange for having the other three charges dropped.
If no deal is reached, Remy’s case is scheduled to go to trial in July.

Atlanta Rapper No Plug Says He Was the Victim of a Kidnapping

Atlanta-based rapper No Plug, says he’s the victim of a recent kidnapping. In an Instagram post he shared on Wednesday (May 22), Plug claims someone scooped him up, demanded a ransom and ultimately released him.
In the clip, he has a giant bandage on his head and it appears his right arm is in a black sling, indicating some type of altercation went down.
“Y’all gonna kidnap me and let me go?” he claims. “It’s on … shit ain’t over boy. We gonna fuck y’all fuck niggas up.”
The caption reads, “hey Should Have Killed Me When They Had The Chance #BennyBlanco. Ransom Paid Thanks @bombfirst_clothing #PromotionalUseOnly #HellCatMuzic @3letter.check imma killl y’all@myshitdiesel #IssaActor.”

Plug, who was a longtime friend of Bankroll, was never charged with Bankroll’s murder. In fact, police discovered Bankroll actually fired first. Surveillance footage shows Bankroll holding and firing an assault rifle, aiming at a black car parked across the street

Shots Fired at YFN Lucci Video Shoot Just A Week After His G-Wagon Was Shot At

Shots were fired during YFN Lucci and Lil Zay Osama’s video shoot this week. In cell phone footage shared to Twitter, someone recording the clip points out Lucci on the baseball field seconds before shots ring out and everyone scrambles.
The footage is brief, but it’s enough to get the point across. Several kids were on set during the melee.

The shooting comes roughly two weeks after Lucci’s vehicle was targeted in Atlanta.
On May 10, his red Mercedes G-Wagon was riddled with bullets in a drive-by shooting. The car was registered to Lucci’s mother. One person was hit in the shoulder, treated at a local hospital and released.

Lil Cease Apologize to Lil Kim For Testifying Against Her

The Notorious B.I.G. would have turned 47 on Tuesday (May 21), but his life was cut tragically short when he was gunned down in March 1997 at the ripe age of 24.
To honor the slain rap legend, several of his friends and collaborators gathered at an intimate New York City dinner to pay their respects.
Lil Kim and Lil Cease were both in attendance at the inaugural B.I.G. birthday dinner event — which could have been awkward.
In 2005, Cease testified against Kim in her perjury trial. After serving a year in jail, she cut off her friendship with her fellow Junior M.A.F.I.A. member. But on Tuesday night, Cease had a chance to apologize to her and the two ultimately ended up hugging it out.
“I apologize for the things I have done that may have hurt you or affected you or made you feel bad,” he said Kim nodded her head. “I genuinely apologize, I love you from the bottom of my heart. You not my real sister, but you are my sister, I love you for life. I thank you for bringing this energy here.”

When Cease testified against Kim 14 years ago, he explained how he felt like he had no other option. In a 2005 article published by MTV, he admitted there was bad blood brewing between them at the time and noted the U.S. government required him to appear in court.
“Me and Kim wasn’t on good terms for the moment, and she made it clear to the world that she didn’t want to have anything to do with me and my peoples,” he said. “So she wasn’t trying to call us to her defense. Being that we was witnesses there, the U.S. government subpoenaed us. And there’s nothing you can do about that.

T.I. to be Honored with the ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award

Tip “T.I.” Harris will receive the inaugural American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) Voice of the Culture Award, a new honor designed to celebrate songwriters and artists who have had an immense influence on music and culture.
“T.I. has conquered the worlds of music, TV, and film, helping to popularize a new sub-genre of music in the process. His significant contributions to hip-hop music, support for other artists through his record label, philanthropy, community activism, and memorable onscreen roles have had a profound impact on today’s music and culture. There is no one more deserving to receive the inaugural ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award,” Paul Williams, ASCAP Chairman of the Board and President, declared via press release.

The self-proclaimed Trap Music pioneer is highly-respected in multiple industries. As a rapper, he has 10 studio albums that earned him three Grammys, 13 Billboard Music Awards, 8 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Awards and many more accolades. As an actor, Harris had starring roles in box office hits, such as, ATL, American Gangster, and Takers, among others. T.I. is also incredibly active in his community through his non-profit Harris Community Works (HCW) and via numerous other philanthropic acts.

ASCAP will host its 32nd annual Rhythm & Soul Awards, Thursday (June 20) in L.A. The legendary Motown Records, in its 60th year, is also being recognized with the Rhythm & Soul Heritage Award, an award that tributes those with an enormous impact on the legacy of Rhythm & Soul Music.

Logic's "Confession of a Dangerous Mind" Debuts at #1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart

With 80,434 total album equivalent units, 23,703 in pure album sales and a streaming count of 73,926,649, Logic’s latest project has nabbed the No. 1 spot.
Boasting several high profile guests, including Eminem (“Homicide”), Wiz Khalifa (“Still Ballin”) and Will Smith (“Don’t Be Afraid To Be Different”), it’s no surprise the 16-track album was able to top the chart.
Despite its position, Confessions Of A Dangerous Mind failed to reel in as many sales as YSIV,which debuted No. 1 last year with roughly 167,000 total album equivalent units sold in its opening week.

Kodak Black Fingerprints & Gun Linked to March Shooting

Kodak Black is continuing to drown in legal troubles. Weeks after his Rolling Loud Miami weapons arrest, Florida prosecutors allege a gun purchased by the Pompano Beach-bred rapper along with his fingerprints are linked to a March shooting.
According to TMZ, prosecutors say Kodak rented a Porsche Panamera on March 7, drove to Golden Acres — a neighborhood in Pompano Beach —  and sprayed a rival rapper’s house with bullets. Although the alleged intended target wasn’t home at the time, the house was filled with children. Luckily, no one was hit.
Prosecutors believe Kodak spent $3,518.71 for a Mini Draco pistol, Sig MPX K 9mm pistol, Sig P238 .380 pistol and more than 100 rounds of ammo from Lou’s Police Distributors in February. Prosecutors allege the purchase was facilitated after Kodak lied on a gun application the month before, which could result in up to 10 years in prison.

Law enforcement reportedly found several spent casings and the aforementioned MPX K at the scene of the Golden Acres shooting. Prosecutors say Kodak’s fingerprints were on the weapon and there was still a live round in the chamber that jammed during the shooting.
Police found the “heavily damaged” Porsche abandoned 14 miles from the scene of the crime. The GPS data was downloaded, pinpointing the vehicle in the Golden Acres neighborhood at the time of the shooting.
Multiple witnesses allegedly saw Kodak at the scene of the shooting, however, he hasn’t been charged with any crime.
Kodak’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, said he hasn’t seen any type of reports showing Kodak’s fingerprints on the gun. He revealed prosecutors also admitted the MPX K left at the scene was never fired.
“Witnesses came forward to us as well and stated they did not see Kodak Black at the scene that night,” he said.
The investigation is ongoing

NBA YoungBoy Arrested Following Fatal Miami Shooting

NBA YoungBoy was taken into custody on Friday (May 17) following a hearing in East Baton Rouge. According to TMZ, he’ll be behind bars for at least 30 days.
District Judge Bonnie Jackson ruled a social media post involving the fatal Miami shootinglast weekend constituted a probation violation despite the fact he was the target and not the triggerman.
YoungBoy’s attorney, Jimmy Manasseh, told the outlet his client was only arrested because of the post. He insists he was the victim of an “assassination attempt.”

Manasseh also noted the Baton Rouge-bred rapper wasn’t in possession of a gun and didn’t commit any crimes, calling the shooting “a terrible and tragic incident.”
Jackson determined the post violates his probation, which he received from an August 2017 sentence for aggravated assault with a firearm. As part of his release conditions, he was ordered to stay off social media for his three-year probation period.
