@TheRReport1 June's Ms Unique of the Month: @MrsGIJane

DominiQue Williams is a midwest maven who was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Williams states, “Originally, I wanted to be a Journalist because I loved to write. In middle school and high school, creative writing was one of my majors. Communications is just something I have always wanted to do”. After High School, Williams attended Northern Kentucky University where she majored in Public Relations & Marketing with a minor in Electronic Media & Broadcast. Unfortunately, while pledging Delta Sigma Theta at the University, Williams was found at the center of a huge televised investigation. She along with three other students, was harshly hazed during the pledging process. As the victim of an infamous hazing situation while pledging Delta Sigma Theta, Williams found herself at the center of news. Media outlets such as CNN to MSNBC news, all reported about the sorority’s assault(s) against the pledges. Due to the scrutiny of the investigation, Williams switched schools in order to stay focused on her education. Transferring to Xavier University in Ohio, Williams then got into ROTC—thus the name GI Jane. “This job was a Comm Series, which relates back to my major”. With the MOS (job) 25 bravo and an acquired security clearance, Williams worked as an information technology specialist. That work consisted of computing logistics, hacking and encryption coding. The military career for Williams was short lived when she was medically discharged for a stress fracture in her foot and a pelvic injury. Following her departure from the military, GI Jane bartended in Cincinnati. In her early twenties, GI Jane was diagnosed with cancer. “I got really sick”, recalls Jane. However, she did not let her diagnosis get the best of her. She remained resilient and fearless. Opting to change her environment, Jane and a friend set their sites on Atlanta and the rest is history. “Though I was still going through recovery, I was determined to live my life to the abundance”. With her fierceness in tact, GI Jane worked at several odd jobs– all while under going chemotherapy. “There were plenty of days when I was sick, but I kept pushing myself”. A Go Fund Me Account was created by her best friend. The funds raised from the campaign allowed Jane to have the surgery needed to combat her cancer. With those efforts combined with the matched support of Emory Hospital in Georgia, Jane is now free from cancer. Williams’ name, GI Jane has been branded as the bartender of choice within the most prestigious clubs, lounges, and venues in Atlanta. From Compound to Vlive to Blue Flame to SCORES, she has managed to amass a huge social media following that has provided her with a successful retention rate for her customers. “My customers follow me where ever I go”, smiles Jane. “My bar side manner makes me stand out more than any other Bartender. Your attitude is everything. I actually build relationships with the people I work with in a club”. To date, GI Jane is highly requested and recommended as the mixologist of the south. In addition to that, she has started modeling, hosting events throughout the country, and making appearances in music videos, which feature established artists such as Gucci Mane and T Pain. When asked, If you were an animal, what would you be? And why? Jane replies, “ I would most definitely be a lion”. And that she is. Lions are symbols of strength and courage and have been celebrated throughout history for these characteristics. They are also common symbols for royalty and stateliness, hence the phrase ‘king of the jungle’. In her spare time, Jane loves to get tatted up. “I love my tattoos. They are all tribal. When I look at everybody’s body, they have random stuff. My tattoos are art pieces. I have well over 100 of them”. Like as a lion, her artwork too represents strength and power. Five years from now, Jane is looking to have already created an award-winning brand of liquor. She also aspires to do more travel and to create a cocktail book of her most popular drink recipes.
