Three 6 Mafia are reuniting on a brief tour this summer/fall for the first time in nearly two decades. Will the restored camaraderie lead to a new album? It's possible, according to DJ Paul.
The Triple 6 front man was interviewed by TMZ at Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday (Sept. 7), where he offered up some thoughts on the ol' gang getting back together and if it will lead to something more.
"As far as an album, we'll see if we get there," Paul admitted.
"It's a start," he added, before mentioning that nothing is set in stone. "I'm just saying, man. You never know. You never know. Let's get through these shows, then we'll see if we can sit in a room together and make beats."
After years of separation, the group announced a three-show tour last month via Instagram, which will feature former members Gangsta Boo, Crunchy Black and La Chat.
"This year has already been a banner year for new music and production from both of us," DJ Paul said of himself and Juicy J. "I know this is what the fans have been asking for, so we're ready to bring them the classics, along with our new music in the best possible way. To quote LL, don't call it a comeback, we have officially been here for years, and we've got a lot to show for it. Just wait to see what comes next..."
The first show was Saturday at the One MusicFest in Atlanta. They have two more scheduled shows. On Oct. 11, Juicy J and DJ Paul will join in the Loud Records 25th Anniversary celebration. The big reunion show will take place at the Landers Center in Southaven, Miss. on Oct. 12 and will also feature Hypnotize Minds rappers Project Pat and Lil Wyte. DMX and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are also slated to perform at that show.
