@TheRReport1 July's Indie Spotlight: @calexismusic

Courtney Alexis, born July 14, 1997, is an American singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in a small town by the name of Butler, Georgia, where she attended elementary, middle, high school. She embarked on her musical journey when she was featured on Big LAC’s album Mr. Universe. She had an outstanding love for music ever since she was young and was singing at 2-years-old before she could fully talk. She would hum on key along to Nickelodeon’s Nick Jr. jingle, “Nick Jr’s just for me.” Her family discovered then that she would be a singer. She grew up in the County Line Baptist Church and was in the choir ever since being in her mother’s womb. Singing in the church choir is where she discovered her own God-gifted talent. Courtney’s family had different tastes in music, her mom’s being R&B and Soul, her dad’s was Rock and Country music, and her sister loved Hip-Hop and Rap, which all heavily influenced her own taste of music that ranges from the 60’s to the present day. As she got older, Courtney grew a love for many genres, her most favorites being R&B/Soul and Hip-Hop/Rap. Courtney today is signed to the label and Outcide Entertainment, where the genre of her music is R&B and Soul. Her musical influences are Angela Winbush, the talented Alicia Keys, the creative Jhene Aiko, Erykah Badu, Janelle Monae, and SZA, and many more. Chris Brown has been her favorite artist since she was 8-years-old. Courtney was granted many opportunities to showcase her talent during her high school years and her talent is known throughout her hometown as well as other places. What truly motivates her to pursue music is self expression and creativity; she wants her music to be relatable and authentic. Courtney Alexis remains a role model to many younger people back in her hometown. Her message to the world is to be true to self, not follow trends, work hard, and good things will follow behind.
